The First Four Continued

We started yesterday with our March Madness coverage & went 1-1 with our selections. Tonight we have two more games & then the field is set.

North Carolina Central (19-15) vs Texas Southern (15-19)   Betting line:  Texas Southern -5.5  total 146.5

Texas Southern comes into this game on a 7 game win streak which culminated with winning the Southwestern Tournament. They are averaging 77.6 ppg on 44.1 % shooting. Demontrae Jefferson is Southern’s leading scorer averaging 23.4 ppg and 4.5 assists. Followed by Donte Clark 18.6 points and 5.3 rebounds. Texas Southern is shooting 36.3 percent from 3 point land  and 71.9 percent from the free throw line.

North Carolina Central heads into this game on a 5 game win streak after winning the MEAC Tournament. North Carolina Central is averaging 70.4 ppg on 46 percent shooting. Raasean Davis is their leading scorer averaging 15 ppg and 8 rebounds, Pablo Rivas is averaging 11.8 ppg. North Carolina Central is shooting 33.2 percent from 3 point land and 68.2 percent from the free throw line.

Texas Southern started the season with road games against Gonzaga, Ohio State, Syracuse, Kansas, Clemson, Oregon, Baylor, TCU and BYU. Quite a schedule for such a small school & ended up losing their first 13 games in a row. They ended up going 15-6 in their final 21 games.

Syracuse (20-13) vs Arizona State (20-11)  Betting line: Arizona State -1.5  total: 143.5

Arizona State comes into this game losing 5 of their last 6 games, after they started the season winning 12 in a row. They are averaging 83.5 points on 46.4 percent shooting. Led by Tra Holder who is averaging 18.4 ppg and 3.4 assists. Shannon Evans II is averaging 16.6 points and 3.2 rebounds. Arizona State is shooting 36.4 percent from 3 point land and 73.8 percent from the free throw line.

Syracuse comes into this game losers of 5 of their last 8. They are averaging 67.5 points on 41.8 percent shooting. Led by Tyus Battle who is averaging 19.8 ppg and 3.1 rebounds while Frank Howard is averaging 15 points and 5 assists. They are shooting 32.1 percent from 3 point land and 74 percent from the free throw line.
