Reviewing the FOY

The dust has now settled, what did we learn from yesterday’s FOY?

1st:  Promises Fulfilled  broke from post 10 & took the field gate to wire. The fractions were  23.4 ~ 48.3 ~1:12.3 ~ 1:37.2 ~ 1:44-    Irad Ortiz Jr had a plan & it worked to perfection ~ this son of Shackleford can now just watch everyone else scramble to get into the starting gate come the first Saturday in May

2nd:  Strike Power  ran a very good race chasing Promises Fulfilled around the track, at the top of the stretch it appeared he could go by him but still ran a very solid second ~ in our opinion he will get a lot out of this race & will continue on the Derby trail

3rd:  Good Magic  he was never further back than fourth on the backstretch ~ you could tell once Jose Ortiz shook him up it wasn’t going to be his day ~ he did manage to hold third but truly a disappointment ~ Chad will most likely keep him on the Derby trail but I still don’t see him stepping up in his next race ~ his one win fooled many

4th:  Machismo  he got stepped on right out of the gate & could have just thrown in the towel ~ but he still ran on very well to be fourth ~ like Strike Power he got a lot out of this race & will improve in his next start for sure

No need to discuss the others who “ran” ~ the Good Magic bandwagon will still make noise but it will be short lived & once he fails again in his next start they will jump onto the next “now” horse
