A compact field of 7 head to the starting gate in the Sam F Davis.
1-Navy Armed Guard: hasn’t found the winners circle after 5 races. His last race which was at Tam just missed by a neck earning a 87 bris speed figure. Would be a complete shock if he beats this field.
2-Flameaway: in 6 lifetime starts he’s found the winners circle on three diffferent surfaces, sloppy, all weather & turf. He is a E/P7 horse & has earned a 90 bris speed figure but it was on turf in his last race. If the track comes up wet he will be on our tickets, other than that he’s just along for the ride.
3-Vino Rosso: one of the 3,500,000 Todd Pletcher nominated 3-YO’s ridden by John Velazquez. Has a win over the track in his last start earning a 84 bris speed figure. Been off for 50 days has had 4 works at Palm Beach Downs. Will be used second & third on our tickets.
4-Septimius Severus: one win from two starts has Jose Ortiz riding. hasn’t run farther than 7f looks like an outsider in this field.
5-Hollywood Star: was entered in last weeks Holy Bull but scratched to run here. Was last seen getting thumped in the BC Juvenile. Dale Romans trains & Joel Rosario rides. Has a good closing kick, will be my choice in the race.
6-Catholic Boy: the 8/5 morning line favorite. 2/3 wins have been on the turf. His lone dirt win was in the Remsen & earned him a 98 bris speed figure. He’s a very talented horse for sure but I feel he regresses off that excellent Remsen.
7-Vouch: has 2 races with 1 win to his credt. Catholic Boy beat him by 6 1/2 in the Remsen. Centeno knows how to ride this track & will get the best this horse has to offer. Could surprise.
Betting Strategy: 5-Hollywood Star win only ~~ exactas: 5/6 5/7 ~~~~ triples: 5,7/3,5,6,7/2,3,5,6,7 superfectas: 5,7/3,5,6,7/2,3,5,6,7/2,3,5,6,7
If the track does come up wet then the 2 is a must use on top.
