Jerome Stakes: One Mile Weather: Lower 40’s
The track should still have some moisture in it due to the thaw & yesterdays rain
1-Coltandmississippi ~ Todd Pletcher trains today he’s adding blinkers for the first time today which has been a 22% move. Runs a good race bad race pattern, was badly beaten at GP last start. Might plod along for third.
2-Seven Trumpets ~ Dale Romans trains & he comes into this race on a winning streak. His bris speed figures have been 93 & 92 over his last two starts. Could be improving at the right time.
3-Regalian ~ Chris Englehart trains he just broke his maiden over this track. Moves way up in class today, a rank outsider.
4-Factor This ~ Edward R Barker trains 5 of his 7 starts have been on the turf. Just broke his maiden last out, a rank outsider.
5-Smooth B ~ Robert Reid Jr trains did break his maiden over a sloppy track at Parx. Didn’t get totally embarrassed last October at Belmont in the GR3 Futurity. He will be on my tickets in the third & fourth place spots.
6-Old Time Revival ~ Kenneth Decker trains he broke his maiden on his third try earned a 90 bris speed figure. Could be part of the pace but I don’t see him around at the finish line.
7-Firenze Fire ~ Jason Servis trains he’s the morning line favorite at 3/5 has been resting the last 70 days. He got trounced in the BC Juvenile has been working a averagely, I don’t expect him to be fully cranked for this race. He did win the GR1 Champange at Belmont at one mile.
8-Glennwood ~ Erin Wilkinson trains he broke his maiden in 20,000 claiming company at CD. He’s my choice to run eighth.
Summary: I see this as a two horse race between 2- Seven Trumpets & 7-Firenze Fire I am giving the edge to 2-Seven Trumpets
Win- Place: 2-Seven Trumpets Exacta box: 2/7 Triple: 2/7/1,5 7/2/1,5
LeComte One Mile & Seventy yards Weather Sunny mid 40’s
10-Instilled Regard ~ Jerry Hollendorfer trains his last start in a GR1 at Los Al was a very good one earning a 100 bris speed figure. He was bothered and was placed second. Will be on or near the lead, I’m not sure if the last race took to much out of him. I’d be cautious betting him in the win hole.
12-Principe Guilherme ~ Steve Asmussen trains a perfect 2/2 both wins convincingly earning 92 bris speed figures in both races. Geroux back aboard today the horse to beat.
13-Prince Lucky ~ Larry Jones trains has won 3 out of 4 starts no win past the distance of 7f. The distance is my only question about him, Julien Leparoux gets the ride.
Summary: The 12 looks to me as the horse to beat, I’ll be using the 10 & 13 underneath.
