Breeder’s Cup Classic

 Breeder’s Cup Classic

When I was asked to analyze this race I didn’t know which route to take. A full field breakdown of every horse? A top three with a sleeper? But let’s be honest, this Breeder’s Cup has more storylines in it than a season finale of The Kardashians. There’s a good chance that you know the background of these horses and you’ve been watching them for a while. With social media, every detail of these great athlete’s paths to victory are documented step by step. The key is taking those details and deciding which are most important for you personally. Now I am going to give you my analysis in this article, but trust your gut, these are the races as fans of the sport that we circle on our calendar. These are the tickets that you remember your entire life and the horses that are cemented in history forever. I think that’s an important thing to remember as well, yes we are handicappers who love to hit those big tickets, especially on days like today with the huge pools. However, take a second to admire what you’re watching, you are seeing the best of the best equine athletes putting on stunning performance after stunning performances. Let that be the biggest win of the day, the fact that we get to wake up today and admire the spectacular event that is The Breeder’s Cup.

With all the story lines surrounding each horse it’s tough to just look at workouts and past performances and see these horses as just simply horses. With that being said my pick here is the 8-West Coast. The three-year-old out of Bob Baffert’s barn is coming into this one after winning his last five. He seems to be reaching his top form after his prep in the Pennsylvania Derby. He’s had great workout coming into this one at both Del Mar and Santa Anita and I think he runs a huge race here. It’s weird calling a horse that one his last four including three speed figures above 100 a sleeper pick, but I think we get decent odds on Collected today. He’s overlooked with the bigger names and I think he comes into this one better than ever. My top two choices are West Coast and Collected, however I wouldn’t mind seeing Arrogate return to form and we see the Arrogate of old. Good luck to all and we will have picks by the 5minutestopost team listed below.

Mike – West Coast

Jason – Arrogate

Ryan -Gun Runner

Jeff -Arrogate
