Keeneland Fall Opening Day 10/6
Football is in full swing, the trees are starting to turn, and I’ll decide between my favorite sports coat or sweater. The Keeneland Fall Meet is finally here. The best of the best culminating for four weeks of racing. It truly is an experience like no other, and encourage everyone ages six to sixty to give it a try. Although I won’t be there in person till Sunday, these races are must plays wherever you are. Check out my best four bets of the day and let’s win some money.
We kick off the Keeneland meet with a maiden going a mile and a sixteenth. This 7-horse field only features one first time starter and I’m gonna start off with some chalk. The 4-Gio Game is 9/5 on the ML and the only one that’s tested at this distance. She ran into some traffic last time out and was third on the Saratoga Turf. She benefits from getting a post that isn’t the rail and I think cruises past this field.
Race 4 on paper is a very evenly matched field. A 10000 claimer for fillies and mares the 4-Street Cruizer sets the lowest morning line at 9/2. I’ll look elsewhere with the 2-Enchanted Facts. She hadn’t been in form her past few races but she gets a two-month break. With her running style I think she hits the lead and doesn’t look back against this field. With such an even field we have a chance to get a good price.
Race 8 is the first stakes race of the Keeneland Fall Meet. The Grade 2 Phoenix is a 6-furlong dirt sprint for $250,000. The two headliners here are Whitmore and Limousine Liberal. I think the outside post is a major disadvantage for Whitmore and I believe 5-Limousine Liberal can capitalize off an inside speed battle. I look for him to take over in the stretch and get back to his winning ways here. I’ll throw in the 7 and 8 into an exacta box here because I think we get a price on both and they have potential. I’ll play an exacta 5,7,8,11 Boxed.
The featured stakes race of the day the Grade 1 Alcibiades. An early glimpse at a few KY Oaks contenders here as the 2-year-old fillies go a mile and a sixteenth on the dirt. Both the 9-Heavenly Love and the 6-Bet She Wins come off huge wins in their respected last races. I’ll go with the 7-Kelly’s Humor. She comes into this one off a second in the Pocahontas but she has the experience at this distance. She rallied to finish second and she’s posting good workout since. She’s the 3rd choice on the ML and a steal at anywhere near 5-1. I’ll play the 7-Kelly’s Humor.
I’m staying away from the Pick 4 here because I want nothing to do with the 7th race. That race is wide open and anybody could win it. I’ll avoid the Pick 4 and play a Pick 3 starting in the 8th. I’ll go 5,7,8/6,7,9/8 for a $9 ticket and the opportunity for some huge prices.
