Hello everyone, today I’ll be taking a look at Saratoga. I’ll give a few selections and a brief analysis for today’s races. Hopefully today I can provide some worthwhile information for you. As usual if you have any questions or comments feel free to get in touch with me on twitter @JasonNYM
Race 1: 5-4-6
5- La Inesperada drops in class going 1st time off the claim for Asmussen (whose lone winner from 25 starters was Gun Runner in the Whitney). She has early speed, and is likely just a cut above these.
4- Midnight Bounty who always seems to land a share and 6 – Kate Is a Ten look best of the rest
Race 2: 10-9-4
10 – Dynamic War ran well when dropped to this level last time out and picks up Irad going 3rd time out since moving to Weaver barn.
9 – Front Row Debbie has shown ability when able to race on or near the lead. Ships in for Romans (11% move).
4 – Maddy’s Way – Goes 1st time turf, dropping in class, and has enough pedigree and a fair enough turf workout to suggest she will handle the surface.
Race 3: 6-2
6- Alaskan Prince just missed at this level last out and should get a favorable pace set up in here.
2- Lone Trader was ¾ behind Alaskan Prince in their last race closing from deeper in the field than that one.
Race 4: 5-1
5 – Hard Hitter got nailed late last time out, but Jose Ortiz sticks for Linda Rice and is the one to beat.
1 – Pirellone may get a good trip sitting behind the early speed on the rail. He finished 2 lengths behind Hard Hitter last time out.
Race 5: 2-4
2- Bridaled Temper goes 1st time out for Casse (just 1 for 40) at the meet) but is well bred for the turf and this distance and draws Castellano to ride.
4- Pocket Book is 1 of 2 in here for Ward and showed speed before being caught late in lone start June 11th at Gulfstream. The likely favorite.
Race 6: 6-4-5
6 – Bookman returns to the dirt where his two starts have been good. There are other speeds to his inside so he may be able to work out a nice outside stalking trap and get first run on likely favorite 4 –Benevolence who just missed after going wide last out at Belmont.
5- Gaming was right behind Benevolence last out and looks best of the rest.
Race 7: 5-8-7
5 – Wondermeister returns to the turf where he has raced competitively twice at this level.
8 – Set Me Up returns after an 8 month break with a fair work tab for Pletcher.
7- Bartleby ran well last out and drops in class today.
Race 8: 6-5-3
6 – Stallwalkin’ Dude has kept top class company as of late and should get plenty of pace to run at. Strictly the one to beat.
5 – Candid Desire can pick up the pieces late if some of the speed falls apart late in the race.
3- Weekend Hideaway has run well over this track and in good company (3rd just 1 length behind Stallwalkin’ Dude in the grade 1 Voshburgh). Has worked well for his return.
Race 9: 8-6-7
8 – Objective Complete returns from a January layoff with a solid work tab. She ran well in her debut at Gulfstream behind consistent turf sprinter Morticia.
6 – Icy Girl may improve 2nd time off the layoff with a race over the track. Steps up in class today.
7 – Town Fair cuts back and has speed. In with a chance here.
Race 10: 6-4-2
6- Stormy Alexis may be able to grab the early lead in a race that lacks speed and have something left late.
4 – Cashless Society has run well for Brown in both starts and can improve 3rd time out.
2 – War Canoe closes and just missed last time out.
